Born and educated in Dover, Annie studied art at Canterbury College of Art. She took an art teacher's diploma at Brighton College of Art, and subsequently taught art at schools in Brighton (Westlain) and Hastings (Claremont); she has also taught adult classes but has now retired from teaching to concentrate entirely on her own work.

Annie is a member of (and exhibits with) the Rye Society of Artists, the Sussex Guild, the Society of Botanical Artists, the National Society of Painters, Sculptors, and Printmakers, and various other bodies. Her work can also be viewed and purchased at a number of galleries and shops (see www.anniesoudain.co.uk), and her greetings cards are increasingly popular.
