Born 1950, he studied at Eastbourne and Maidstone Colleges of Art. He works mainly in watercolour, oils and woodcut. His subjects are wildlife, domestic animals and landscape. He places a great emphasis on observing and sketching in the field with watercolours, often made directly from life. Robert has been a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) since 1981 and his work appears in several books on Wildlife Art. His first solo book 'Towards the Sea' was published in 1999 by Pica Press (now an imprint of A & C Black) and is still in print.
