Studio potter. I worked with my father Frank Smith for two years making pots. In 1987 I visited China's potteries – this has continued to inspire me. In 1988 I took a foundation course at Hastings College of Arts and Technology. Awarded a Diploma. Studied ceramics at the Kent Institute of Art and Design (1988 to 1991). Obtained an HND in ceramics. Elected a member of the Rye Society of Artists in 1992. In 2005 I moved to Winchelsea Beach, built a new studio and LPG kiln and converted part of my conservatory into a showroom. I continue to make individual pots in stoneware and porcelain. All pots are fired in a reduced firing. For the past 2 years I have taken part in the Coastal Currents Open Studios Festival.
